Course Overview

This course introduces you to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) through Google My Maps, a free tool you already have access to through your Google account. Over five modules, you will learn how maps work, how to build your own, and how to use your map to make real decisions about your community garden.

What You Will Build

By the end of this course, you will have a complete, layered map of your community garden – including planting zones, water access points, sunlight areas, and surrounding neighborhood context. You will also know how to share and present that map to others.
